They are opposed but share an existential problem. The more charismatic figure is the fox (female, only once owning 'vixen') who is trying to understand her environment, the role of the farmer, the singing fences, the farmer. You can have a giant anthology or even the legendary 'slim volume' of poetry but often, when the poetry is good, it's like having to eat all your chocolate eggs at once.
Too much, too rich. Sometimes it's better to have digestible quantities.
Here are three poem portfolios (Aves, Verge, and The Beekeeper's War) published under the Well Sprung Productions imprint in Chris Mansellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07514661667754753011noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11075566.post-44536193582300523722017-03-22T16:37:00.001+11:002017-03-22T16:46:28.230+11:00Destructing the poem: Ern Malley goes to Sappho BooksToby Fitch organised a celebration of Ern Malley's 99th birthday (14 March). There were many there. Sixteen poets, academics, and others read a poem each. The audience was vibrant. Judith Rodriguez was there, and David Malouf, Beate Josephi, Andrew Taylor and lots of others. Here is the first quad in the Stung collection:
What a quad is:
One quad comprises 4 interlinked squares, made up of 15 characters wide x 8 lines deep, exactly. (Obviously the font chosen is fixed width. They were originally composed on a manual typewriter.)

AVES and VERGE form a pair, sometime soon to be joined by a third, small collections of poems. Whereas VERGE contains three small booklets, AVES contains three folders each with a poem on the subject of birds: The Secret Lives of Birds, [five n twenty], and, Aves and Fishes.
